Touching the Sky

Touching the sky...

I am a consumed insatiable being...
Flames curl the edges of my soul
Liquid Love Taste
Ecstasy and no control

Steel drums and Bass
As Im looking into Your Eyes
I will want shamelessly
I will not apologize

I am a Woman
Yes, thats right.
I wil NOT curb my appetite
I will not walk in the shadows..
I will dance in the light

Im a Vixen on a mission
and I don't need your permission
I will put flowers in my hair
And to the waves I will listen

I am fearless
because I have no choice
I will step out of line
an I will raise my voice

I do not need your opinon
think you need it more than I
I will truly own the skin I'm in
I will someday touch the sky...

Land of the odd and earthly pleasures

Land of the odd and earthly pleasures

You have led me down your glass flinted streets

Charming I'd saythis fruit of yours

That has been thrown so gallantly upon my feet

Amazing all at once this garden

where my values where left at the gate

in a basket particularly

I nonchalantly tossed my fate.

Waterfalls and Rain drops

Perverse all dipped in Gold

Where the fragile and the Young

have once stumbled down this very road'

Absorbent and relentless

In these cherry colored sheets

And no matter how much you try

you will never really reach

Stolen fire as you depart

and aching from the Feat

OH land of the odd and earthly pleasures

why have you led me down this street?

I remember my father

I remember my father.
Gallant, brimming with Joy
So much, it spilled from his ears.
Like a pot of boiling water
He bubbled over
He spoke of Art, and Light, and love.
He spoke of the secrets of the CIA.
and of miltary intelligence
He swore by crystals that healed you if you wore them.

I remember my father
tennis balls cured his ailing back.
the first person who bought me canvas...
and showed me how to use acrylics.
He doodled a crying eye on everything..
the phone bill, the brown paper bag from the grocery..
A crying eye.
A hand sketched eye, with a single tear.
Light pivoting from its very core.

I remember my father
Whimsical and alert
mumbled constantly
Stood on a slant..
because one leg was coniderably shorter
Orthopedic shoes he wore
after the accident of course.

I remember my father
popular with the ladies
salsa teacher in his twenties
Jeweler in his thirties
Chef in his forties

I remember my father
in ways my mother doesnt
I remember my father
like it was yesterday.
